VSO is an international development agency that relies on volunteers. The organization has developed a beautifully designed guide called “Participatory Advocacy” to help its network of volunteers harness the power of advocacy. Thanks Jen Muldoon for sending this guide to us.
The holistic guide has sections on:
- What is advocacy;
- Different types of advocacy, and their respective components;
- Research and analysis;
- Target selection;
- Mobilization;
- Action, and
- Evaluation and review.
Typical stuff, but it’s comprehensive and has nice diagrams. Check out the guide’s diagram to explain target selection. The minister is the campaign’s primary target, clearly!
Or how about this document that outlines the process of strategic planning.
